Lady Panther works on leadership for senior year
The Colleyville Heritage girls soccer team made the postseason once again in 2016, and coach Monte Pace said Allie Lumpkin is a big part of the reason why.
The senior forward helped the Lady Panthers to a fourth-place finish in a tough District 7-6A, and Pace said, offensively, the team could not have done it without her.
“Allie is a very dynamic attacking player with a lot of speed who contributed greatly last year with goals and assists,” Pace said. “She was voted offensive player of the year by her teammates and was a first-team all-district player. She is a hard worker and has grown into a good team leader.”
Lumpkin said she was satisfied with the way her team performed last season and said that there was one thing that made it particularly special.
“We felt we had a really good season in a very difficult district,” Lumpkin said. “We were very proud to keep our team’s streak alive of making the playoffs once again.”
Lumpkin is also a member of the National Honor Society, National Charity League, Best Buddies and also plays varsity lacrosse.
Lumpkin said her plans for the offseason are to “keep myself in shape and build up some further strength.”
Pace said that he would like for his senior forward to work on a few things this summer as well.
“I would like for Allie to continue working on her leadership skills,” Pace said. “As a senior, she has a great opportunity to provide guidance and leadership to what will be a relatively young varsity team.”
Lumpkin said she is optimistic about her team’s chances next season and said to repeat upon the success the team enjoyed this season, it will take a couple of things.
“Next school year will represent our second year playing under Coach Pace,” Lumpkin said. “Losing many seniors after this year, we will have to work hard and further connect as a team under coach Pace and his system.”
