Motorist identified in fatal Fairway Drive crash in Grapevine

A Lewisville motorist was killed Monday morning in a single-vehicle wreck on Fairway Drive, authorities said.

Jason York, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website.

York was southbound in a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado when he veered and hit a concrete barrier on the north side of the road, police said.

York was alone in the truck, police said.

Fairway Drive was closed for more than three hours as authorities investigated.

The road, which goes over the Grapevine dam, had reopened Saturday evening after being closed for a month for about $1 million in repairs, said Clay Church, a spokesman for the Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth district.

The road was closed April 17 for repairs after a 95-foot slide caused by heavy rains east of the spillway.
