Another luxury car dealership is cruising into Grapevine.

Park Place Dealerships is about to break ground on a new Jaguar and Land Rover dealership on the south side of Texas 114, near Texan Trail, a company spokesman said. The facility is expected to open in spring of next year.

“Northeast Tarrant County is a great community to do business and with the opening of Jaguar Land Rover, Park Place will have a larger footprint to serve our growing client base,” Gary Venner, Park Place Dealerships president, said in a news release.

Park Place Jaguar Land Rover will be built on 8 acres and will relocate the Park Place Jaguar business from Plano.

With the addition in Grapevine, the company, which has 18 dealerships, will add Land Rover to its portfolio.

Park Place Jaguar Land Rover will feature a two-story building that will be LEED-certified, meaning the structure meets standards of energy efficiency set by the U.S. Green Building Council. The facility will include 30 service bays, 12 “make ready” bays and a showroom that can hold 12 cars.

The service area will hold nine vehicles and include a 2,800-square-foot car wash.

The company already operates Park Place Lexus and Park Place Motorcars — the latter a Mercedes dealership — in Grapevine.

Luxury car destination

The city of about 50,200 residents has long been a draw for luxury cars.

Earlier this year, Gateway Classic Cars opened at 1250 Mustang Drive in an industrial area just north of Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. That business features a variety of expensive and rare cars, including Lamborghinis and even a 1932 Ford Roadster.

Even though those cars are out of some residents’ price range, anyone can stop by and view the vehicles, spokeswoman Sarah Boothby said.

“We want to be able to display more than 100 classic cars at all times,” she said.

Last year, a record 17.47 million vehicles were sold in the U.S., according to automakers. The sales spike was attributed to low gas prices and interest rates.

Sales of extremely high-end automobiles were on the rise, too.

RM Sotheby's and Auctions America generated a record $593 million in auction sales last year for transactions involving 2,962 vehicles and auto memorabilia, a company official said. That's a 26 percent increase over the year before.
