Midtown Express closures ramp up

The Midtown Express reconstruction project became a painful reality with last weekend’s closing of Industrial Boulevard under Texas 183.

Traffic was backed up at the busy intersection and detours were frustratingly slow.

Areas around Ector Drive are already covered with orange cones and barricades, and coming Monday, according to drivemidtown.com, eastbound Texas 183 at Amon Carter Boulevard will move to a new traffic pattern and the Amon Carter on-ramp to 183 will be closed.

From April 18 to May 2, the U-turns for eastbound and westbound Texas 183 at Ector Drive will be closed.

The project, which will widen and increase capacity for Texas 183 from Euless to Interstate 35E in Dallas, is expected to continue for two years.

It’s time for spring cleaning in Bedford

Just in time for spring cleaning, Bedford residents can get rid of nonhazardous items at the city’s annual Clean Up Bedford and Chunk Your Junk Day.

From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, residents can drop off their “junk” at Meadow Park Athletic Complex, 3101 Meadow Park Drive. Proof of residency is required for junk disposal.

Hazardous items will be collected on Crud Day, April 30.

The Clean Up Bedford effort needs volunteers to help clean major streets, parks, parking lots, City Hall, police and fire stations and other municipal and public areas.

Those interested in volunteering can sign up www.facebook.com/keepbedfordbeautiful.
