After only being in operation one year, The REC of Grapevine recreational facility is home to an aquatics recreational and educational playland.
Toward that end, the Parks & Recreation aquatics team is hosting April Pools Day — A Water Safety Expo from 4-8 p.m. April 1.
Families are invited to attend the fun and educational event boasting multiple stations providing information about water safety; learn-to-swim programs; life vest fittings; boating safety from Travis Porter, Texas Parks & Wildlife game warden; and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation classes.
Safe Kids Tarrant County and DFW Surf invites everyone to sample paddle boarding and kayaking in the pool.
There will be photo opportunities with Larry the Life Vest character from the BMF Project.
Grapevine Police and the Grapevine Fire Department Dive Team will be on hand part of the day.
The first 300 children who complete the “Passport to Water Safety” card and get a punch from each station will receive a complimentary T-shirt.
First-Aid kits will be distributed to the first 450 parents who accompany their children to the event.
The pool will also be open for swimming and includes the children’s play area, lap lanes and the lazy river.
