Husband accused of killing Pilot Point woman, injuring parents
A 51-year-old woman was killed and her parents were injured Wednesday night in a shooting and an assault with a pickup, authorities reported.
Wilford “Nemo” Holmes, 50, the woman’s husband, shot himself, Pilot Point police said in a news release. He remained hospitalized Thursday at Plano Medical Center,
Officers responded to a call at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday from the 300 block of South Church Street. Investigators believe Holmes, driving a Ford pickup, hit a sport utility vehicle and a Lincoln sedan in the driveway of the residence. Then he got out of his truck, walked up to his wife, Rhonda Holmes, and shot her once.
Rhonda Holmes, who was shot in the chest, was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m. at Denton Regional Medical Center, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office reported.
Rhonda Holmes’ 69-year-old mother was injured when the pickup hit the vehicles. The news release did not say whether the mother was inside a vehicle or outside.
Wilford Holmes assaulted his wife’s 83-year-old father before he shot himself, police said.
The parents, who were not identified, were taken to Denton Regional Medical Center. Their conditions were not available on Thursday.
Denton County sheriff’s deputies, Texas Rangers, and Aubrey and Northeast police were assisting Pilot Point investigators.
Pilot Point is 60 miles northeast of Fort Worth in Denton County.
