A 16-year-old Colleyville Heritage High School student was struck by a vehicle on Friday near the school, officials reported.
The teen, who was not identified, was attempting to cross the street in the 5400 block of Heritage Avenue adjacent to the school when he was hit, said Mona Gandy, Colleyville city spokeswoman.
The 911 call was received at 6:55 p..m. The teen was taken by helicopter ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Gandy said.
The driver was not cited pending an investigation, Gandy said.
An email from Colleyville Principal Conrad Streeter said the teen was a Heritage student who was in the crosswalk in front of the campus, the email stated.
“The serious injury of a classmate can have a profound effect on students, even if they are not in the same class or grade,” the email stated. “Our district’s team of crisis counselors will be available on campus Monday to talk with students, teachers, and support personnel as needed.”
