Carroll students pick their ‘Book Madness’ favorites

Special to the Star-Telegram

Taking a page from college basketball’s March Madness, librarians at Carroll High School and Carroll Senior High School posted a Book Madness bracket to highlight the schools’ most popular tomes.

Librarians Heather Loomis (CHS) and Sarah Chase (CSHS) ran reports in their database to find the 16 most popular books students checked out and formed the Book Madness Bracket. Some 365 students submitted their brackets before the contest began. Each week, students submit votes for their favorites: 171 votes were recorded for week one (Sweet Sixteen down to Elite Eight); 114 votes were recorded for week two (Elite Eight down to Final Four).

The Final Four most popular books announced last week were American Sniper, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Martian and The Fifth Wave. This week, students were to decide the top two and the champion. The student with the most right picks in his or her bracket will win a $100 iTunes gift card.
