Woman files lawsuit against Colleyville hoping to learn ex-husband’s worth
Colleyville officials are taking steps to provide information requested in a civil lawsuit that stems from a bitter divorce and harassment case.
The Northeast Tarrant County city is being sued by the ex-wife of Bobby Wayne Moore, 39, of Colleyville under the pseudonym Jane Doe. The lawsuit, filed last week, seeks public documents in an attempt to prove that Moore is a multimillionaire.
The lawsuit says Moore has hidden his net worth and annual income. It also says city officials have refused to provide public documents, emails and text messages related to the land and business, Bob Moore Sports Complex, of Moore and his sister, Lisa Miller.
“State statutes allow for exemptions to the open records laws for some economic development information,” Colleyville spokeswoman Mona Gandy said in an email. “Our economic development group has been in discussions with potential developers about that property and thought this information was covered under those exemptions but, in this case, a specific exemption should have been requested through the Office of the Attorney General to confirm an exemption. That wasn’t done.”
Gandy said that city officials expect the information to be available in the next few days.
Moore’s ex-wife, who is listed in Tarrant County court documents as Melissa Moore, filed another lawsuit in October as Jane Doe against her ex-husband related to a harassment case involving Craigslist.
Mark Allan of Grapevine, Melissa Moore’s lawyer, has declined to comment because of a protective order issued in November prohibiting anyone involved in the harassment case from talking.
“While the two cases are separate, I think it would at the very least violate the spirit of the protective order,” Allan said in an email.
Attorneys for Bobby Wayne Moore could not be reached for comment.
On March 22, 2014, Moore placed an online ad saying a woman wanted multiple strangers to come to her home and take sexual “advantage of her.” The ad included his ex-wife’s cellphone number and a photograph of a purported likeness of her.
The couple’s two young children lived with her at the time.
In January 2015, under a plea agreement, Moore was placed on probation for three years on a charge of online harassment.
Nine months later, the ex-wife filed suit as Jane Doe seeking more than $1 million in damages for the suffering she says she endured as a result of harassment and stalking by Moore. The lawsuit did not mention recent harassment.
He and his wife were married on June 9, 2007, and divorced on Dec. 6, 2012, according to Tarrant County court documents. There have been numerous hearings involving issues such as child support and drug testing.
