English theme chosen for annual fundraiser
Now here is a refreshing new idea of a fundraiser for the New Year.
The Southlake Newcomers Club and Charitable Foundation has announced its annual fundraiser supporting the I Can Still Shine foundation in addition to the scholarships granted by the club.
And this one has a true “English” theme.
Replicating the 1920s English Downton Abbey theme, this organization is hosting a Tea and Fashion Show from 1-4 p.m. March 1 at Trophy Club Country Club, located at 500 Trophy Club Drive.
Attendees will enjoy a delightful tea menu, Downton Abbey cocktails (yea, libations) and a fashion show with apparel from Stein Mart, along with a silent auction, a table décor contest, a discussion on etiquette and door prizes.
Tickets are $60 per person. However, a very special vignette seating for two is available for $75 per person.
Seating at this high-class affair is limited, so contact Karen Dawson at kdawson@southlake-travel.com and let her know you are ready to be served “royally.”
Whiskey tasting
Several weeks ago, I told you about an amazing top-tier whiskey tasting featuring one of the world renowned whiskey enthusiasts, Mahesh Patel, to be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 4 at Trophy Club Country Club.
When I wrote about it, I expressed that because this evening was to be an intimate event, with only 60 spots available, seats would begin to sell out quickly. Well, in a matter of a few short weeks, over half of the spots are gone.
For those who haven’t made the call to grab your seat, let me entice you with this bit of information — the coveted menu.
Guests at this event will not only enjoy five luxury brands of whiskey consisting of Monkey Shoulder, three Balvenie single malts, a 15-, 17- and 21-year-old, and the Glenfiddich 15-year-old single malt, there will also be a sumptuous four-course dinner as well.
The menu will be crispy glazed pork belly served over a bed of sweet potato puree for the appetizer, a duck confit for the salad, a grilled beef tenderloin topped with Maytag blue cheese and candied bacon for the entrée and a raspberry mousse cake for dessert. All this and only $60 per person (not including tax and gratuity).
Not a member? Not to worry. This event is open to anyone who appreciates great whiskey and unforgettable food. Call 817-837-1900.
