Irving High educator accused of having sex with student
A 17-year-old Irving High School student took a photo of herself having sex with a 60-year-old JROTC instructor at a motel, leading to his arrest last week, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
Text messages between the instructor, Farley Simon, and the teenager also indicate that the two had a sexual relationship, detectives said in the affidavit obtained by the Star-Telegram on Monday.
Simon was arrested Friday and was free Monday on $50,000 bail. He faces two charges of improper relationship between an educator and a student.
The girl’s mother alerted school officials Jan. 20. They called police and placed Simon on leave.
Simon has been with the district since 2014, according to school records.
The affidavit gave this account of the case:
Simon was the girl’s instructor during the 2014-15 school year.
During the Christmas break, Simon picked up the girl, and they drove to Luzon Park, 2900 Luzon Road in Irving, where they had sex. Simon acknowledged to police that he took the girl to the park but denied having sex with her.
The girl told detectives that Simon picked her up from work Jan. 9 and drove to a Best Western on Texas 183 in Irving, where they had sex. Simon also denied having sex with the girl that time.
But on the girl’s phone and tablet, detectives found a photo of them having sex in the motel room.
