Colleyville, Grapevine chambers start New Year with big Jan. 8 event

Christmas may be a beautiful memory but tomorrow starts a brand new year, which means exciting new events for your calendar.

First up is an opportunity to mix and mingle with two large communities — all in the same spot.

The Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce are joining forces for a joint monthly membership luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Grapevine Convention Center, located at 1209 S. Main St. in Grapevine.

Texas State Senator Kelly Hancock and Texas State Representative Giovanni Capriglione are slated to speak at this rare event. Plus, this luncheon is open to member and non-members alike. Attendance is only $20 for members and $25 for non-members.

Begin the 2015 with new friends and business contacts by calling either the Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce at 817-488-7148 or the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce at 817-481-1522 and locking in your spot.

Celebrity Chefs

Next up is the 9th annual Mid-Cities Supporters of SafeHaven Celebrity Chefs.

This annual event set for 6 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Hurst Convention Center, located at 1601 Campus Drive in Hurst, is always a fantastic way to kick off the new year.

Just after having worked off all that holiday food, I believe your taste buds deserve a bit of reward. This fundraiser brings together many of the finest chefs and restaurants in our area, while raising much needed money for the child victims of domestic violence at SafeHaven.

I have already heard that this year’s chefs have selected their top signature recipes to serve up that night.

They are Peter Weikel of Central Market, Southlake; Susan Clark of Sweet Memories Cakes & Catering, Keller; Charles Youts of The Classic at Roanoke, Roanoke; Hans Bergmann of Cacharel Restaurant and Grand Ballroom, Arlington; Beto Gonzales of Truluck’s Seafood, Steak and Crab House, Southlake; Brian Olenjack of Olenjack’s Grill, Arlington; Chris Wilson of Market Street, Colleyville; Jon Bonnell of Bonnell’s Restaurant Group, Fort Worth; Todd Phillips of J.R.’s Steakhouse, Colleyville; Chef Donatella Trotti of Nonna Tata, Fort Worth; Jason Harper of Trio New American Café, Colleyville; Paul Reid of Hurst Conference Center, Hurst; Deb Cantrell of Savor Culinary Services, Arlington; Janet Capua of Z’s Café, Fort Worth; Andrew Huszar of Tastefully Yours, Southlake; Carleen Anderson of Nosredna Boutique Catering Co., Fort Worth; and Jerrett Joslin of The Wild Mushroom, Weatherford.
