Carroll JV Silver hammers Richardson/Rockwall

The Carroll JV Silver hockey team won an impressive match before the holiday break against Richardson/Rockwall by a score of 6-1 to move to move to 9-2 and remain in first place in their division standings.

Carroll out-shot Richardson/Rockwall 27-16 in the contest and the Dragons had only 10 minutes worth of penalties to Richardson/Rockwall's 18 minutes.

Scott Joy got things going for the Dragons, scoring at the 9:39 mark of the first period on an assist from Jacob Jones.

Jacob Ashlock made it 2-0 three minutes later on an assist from Sam Marso, and Carroll led by two heading into the second.

Joy scored again less than two minutes into the second period on assists from Jones and Benjamin Hagedoorn, and then completed the hat trick with 4:03 left to play in the second on an unassisted power-play goal.

A minute and a half into the third period, Joy scored his fourth goal of the night on an assist from Jones, and Marso scored on an assist from Peter Adams before Richardson/Rockwall was able to get it's first goal of the night late in the third period.

Brayden Mullins stopped 15 of 16 shots on goal in the game for the Dragons.

The Dragons are on a four game winning streak coming out of the break and will take on Plano Senior at 6:15 p.m. on Jan. 4 at the Euless Green Arena.

Colleyville Heritage gets football district honors

The Colleyville Heritage football team had multiple players named to the 7-6A All-District football team this season.

Guard Trey Poirier, running back Demarco Corbin and receiver Jackson Zeldon were all selected to the first team offense, while teammates Jason Williams (DL), Jake Moore (ILB), Jared Crouch (OLB), Stephen Bodish (P), and Ryan Phillipe (S) all earned first team defensive honors.

Max Allen earned second team offensive honors at kicker, while linemen Connor McAnnally and Nick Walters were also selected to the second team.

Running back Justin Toberny, as well as receivers Camden Arnold and Kevin Salinas also received second team honors on offense.

Corner back Nick Felix, defensive end Maxx Crosby and lineman Keandre Johnson were all named to the second team defensive unit.

Grapevine well represented on district squad

The Grapevine football team had multiple players selected to the All-District 6-5A football team this season.

Offensive lineman Buddy Love and Brian Friedrichs were both named to the first team on offense, while receiver Madux Middaugh also received first team honors.

Kicker Trey Jones and outside linebacker Brennon Davis both received first team honors on defense.

Linemen Tanner Gibson and Jace Ewing both received second team honors on defense, while Ian Shepard (TE/FB) and Ty Jones (WR) both received second team honors on offense.

Jake Johnson (CB), Jake Bachand (DE), Eric Moore (DL), Nick Jordan (ILB) and Kareem Mohamed (OLB) were all selected to the second team defense.
