Carroll edges Keller, GCH comes up just short
The Carroll Varsity Silver hockey team overcame a 1-0 deficit early in the second period to defeat Keller by a score of 3-2 on Sunday night at the Euless Star Center Green Arena.
Keller led early in the second, but Julian Gonzalez scored with under four minutes to play the knot the game 1-1 on an unassisted goal for the Dragons.
Early in the third period, Brandon Walsh scored on assists from Gonzalez and Max Bledsoe to take the lead for the Dragons.
Southlake extended its lead to two goals with 6:51 to play in the period on a goal from Saunders Penn on an assist from Benjamin Hagedoorn.
Keller scored a goal late in the game, but Carroll was able to hold on for the victory.
Carroll out shot Keller 37-17 in the game.
Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage stages massive comeback, loses in overtime
The Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage varsity hockey team scored five of the last seven goals of the game against Coppell last Thursday, but came up just short, losing to the Cowboys by a score of 7-6 at the Farmers Branch Star Center Miller arena in overtime.
Coppell took a 1-0 lead in the game over Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage, but the varsity team answered three minutes later on a Spencer Stuckeman goal and Christopher Rodo assist.
Coppell scored three unanswered goals and led 4-1 late in the second period.
With two and a half minutes left to play in the second period, Andrew Monhollen scored on an assist from David Edwards and with under a minute, Rodo scored on an assist from Garrett Culps to cut the deficit to one.
The Cowboys answered with two goals in the third to make it a 6-3 game in favor of Coppell, before Grapevine unloaded three goals in the final 4:23 of play, the first two coming from Christopher Malone, with Riley Smith earning the assist on the second goal.
Stuckeman scored on an assist from Monhollen with just 27 second left to play to tie the game up.
Coppell out shot Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage 37-35 in the contest.
Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage will play Southlake Carroll at 6 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the Euless Star Center Green Arena.
