Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage makes it two in a row
The Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage Varsity Silver hockey team won its second straight game of the season on Thursday night, defeating Frisco by a score of 1-0.
The Varsity Silver team moved to 2-0 on the regular season with the victory.
Following a scoreless first period, the Varsity Silver team broke through at the 6:52 mark of the second period with a power-play goal from Hunter Berry.
Kyle Griffin and Stephen Bradley Branscum both earned assists on the Berry goal.
Neither team scored in the third period either, and Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage held on for the victory.
The Varsity Silver team had two penalties to Frisco’s one, and goalie Brock Stevens stopped 18 of 18 shots on goal in the contest.
Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage will play Mansfield at 9:15 p.m. Thursday at the Euless Star Center Green Arena.
Carroll offense too much for McKinney
The Dragons Varsity Silver hockey team moved to 2-0 on the regular season on Thursday night, defeating McKinney by a score of 5-2 at the McKinney South Arena.
Carroll actually fell behind early on, giving up a goal in the second minute of play to trail 1-0.
The Dragons came back just under two minutes later on a goal from James Gibson with an assist from Louis Gaurino.
McKinney regained the lead early in the second period, but just before the second intermission Carroll evened it back up with a goal from Guarino.
Lucas Peddicord earned the assist on the goal from Gaurino, and the score was tied 2-2 heading into the third period.
In the third period, Peddicord scored on an assist from Peter Adams to give the Dragons their first lead of the night.
David Driggs then added to the score with a goal on assists from Guarino and James Gibson.
Scott Joy close things out for Carroll, scoring with under two minutes to play on an assist from Cole Shannon to put the game out of reach.
Caroll is playing Frisco at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Euless Star Center Green Arena.
