Grapevine man fatally shot after shooting at officers, police spokesman says
A Grapevine man who reportedly had threatened suicide Thursday afternoon fired a shotgun at officers who fired back, killing him, a police spokesman said.
Officers were dispatched to a home in the 4100 block of Brentwood Circle after a man called 911 at 2:22 p.m., saying he was going to kill himself, Sgt. Robert Eberling, a police spokesman, said
The man was identified as James Kubera, 57, Eberling said. Public records show Kubera lived at the home.
“Responding officers arrived on scene and blocked off the surrounding area while the SWAT team was being notified.” Eberling said. “Shortly thereafter, Kubera exited his house and began firing a shotgun.”
Kubera was fatally shot after firing several rounds at officers, Eberling said.
He was pronounced dead at 3:23 p.m. at a Grapevine hospital, Eberling said.
No officers where hurt, Eberling said.
The incident was still under investigation, Eberling said.
