An election will be held Nov. 3 to fill the Place 1 City Council seat following the death Aug. 21 of Mayor Pro Tem C. Shane Wilbanks.

Wilbanks, who was re-elected this year to a three-year term on the Council, died of natural causes at his Grapevine home.

For three decades, Wilbanks served on the Council, where he was a staunch promoter of parks and recreation programs and helped Grapevine grow into a premier tourist destination in North Texas.

The Council approved a resolution Sept. 8 calling for the special election to fill the unexpired term.

The filing period for those interested in running for the Place 1 seat ends on Sept. 24.

Early Voting will be held at the The REC of Grapevine or any polling location in Tarrant County.

The dates and hours for early voting are:

  • Oct. 19-23: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Oct. 24: 7 a.m.- 7 p.m.
  • Oct. 25: 11 a.m.-4 p.m
  • Oct. 26-28: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Oct. 29-30: 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

On the Nov. 3 election day, voters will be required to vote at their precinct.
