A candlelight vigil is planned Tuesday night for the Watauga teen who was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday afternoon.

Devon Jesse, 14, was riding his skateboard when he was struck in the 5900 block of Watauga Road.

Tuesday’s vigil will be 7-9 p.m. in front of Snoopy’s Dog House pet grooming shop, 6031 Watauga Road. Friends and family are asking supporters to bring blue and green candles and balloons. They plan to share memories of Jesse and then release the balloons.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office ruled the death an accident that was caused by a “skateboarder-motor vehicle collision.” Police are still investigating the exact cause.

Officers were dispatched at 1:40 p.m. to the scene where they found the teen in the roadway, according to a news release.

“We’re trying to get a clearer picture of what happened,” police Sgt. Jason Babcock said. “There’s still some things we have to look at.”

Jesse was a freshman at Haltom High School, a Birdville school spokesman said.
