Haslet annexes properties
Haslet Council on Aug. 24 annexed four properties totaling 147.9 acres.
One property is located west of southbound FM 156 and south of Blue Mound Road East. A second property lies east of southbound FM 156 and north of Blue Mound Road East. The other two properties are south of Westport Parkway and west of Interstate 35W.
The Council applied suburban residential zoning on a 36.8-acre tract at Blue Mound Road and FM 156. A 4.2-acre tract near Westport and I35W received agriculture homesites zoning.
The largest tract, consisting of 103.5 acres near Westport and I35W was zoned industrial (to the west of Harmon Road and north of the agricultural homesites zoning district to the south) and agricultural homesites zoning on the remainder of the tract.
The other tract, 3.5 acres along Blue Mound Road and near FM 156, will be used for park land.
Each of the properties was in extra-territorial jurisdiction and surrounded by the city of Haslet, Mayor Bob Golden said.
"Annexing the properties allows the City to better control the development that will occur in those respective areas," Golden said.
No development plans have been discussed for the properties, Golden said.
