High-speed motorcycle crash in Keller kills one
A 21-year-old motorcyclist died Monday afternoon after he crashed into a turning car while driving at speeds up to 100 mph on U.S. 377, police reported.
The victim was identified as Joseph Cruice, 21, of Keller, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Tuesday. Cruice was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash was reported at 2:42 p.m. near Kroger Drive when the northbound motorcyclist started “weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed,” said Capt. Brenda Slovak, a Keller police spokeswoman.
A Lexus with four people inside was turning from the southbound lane into a strip shopping center at 1495 S. Main St. when the motorcycle hit it in the passenger side and then flipped onto the top of the car, Slovak said.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at scene. Two people in the car had to be extricated and then were flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Their conditions could not be learned Monday.
Slovak said police had received calls during the past week about a motorcycle of the same color driving recklessly, but there may be no way to determine if this is the same driver.
All lanes of U.S. 377 were closed between Kroger Drive and LA Fitness until 5 p.m.
