Fire destroys orthodontics building in Colleyville
A fire destroyed a two-story orthodontics office building Sunday. No injuries were reported, a fire official said.
The fire was reported shortly before 8:30 a.m. at 1201 Hall-Johnson Road in the Schroeder Orthodontics building, Fire Marshal Robert McKeown said Sunday.
Several bicyclists reported seeing smoke coming out of the building, McKeown said.
“We tried and tried to make headway, but we finally had to take a defensive approach,” McKeown said. “That means we had to fight the fire from the outside.”
Firefighters from Colleyville and several neighboring cities battled the flames for almost three hours before the fire was extinguished.
McKeown said fire investigators had been unable to enter the building Sunday to establish a point of origin. The cause remains under investigation.
The business has operated in the area for 20 years, according to the Schroeder Orthodontics website. The business was closed Sunday.
According to tax records, the 8,600-square-foot commercial structure was built 12 years ago, media partner WFAA.com reported.
Firefighters remained on the scene Sunday afternoon, planning to be there for several hours watching for hot spots.
