Bedford ‘cleared the shelter’ in national adoption event
Saturday’s Clear the Shelters campaign was a huge success, with more than 6,000 pets from animal shelters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area finding new homes.
At the Bedford Animal Shelter, nine cats and one dog were adopted, said Ken Horn, the city’s lead animal control officer.
“We cleared the shelter,” Horn said. “We had a very good turnout. It was very busy here.”
More than 50 shelters in North Texas participated in the event, which waived adoption fees.
Nationwide, more than 18,000 animals were adopted.
