A 28-year-old man with high-functioning autism has been found safe the day after he was reported missing from North East Mall in Hurst, police said on Wednesday.

The man had watched a movie with a group on Tuesday afternoon, and the group’s caretaker told Hurst police that he was last seen about 4:30 p.m. inside of the Cinemark theater.

When the group gathered for a meal after watching the movie, someone noted that the man was missing.

Police officers searched the immediate and surrounding areas over several hours and used a drone and K9.

On Wednesday afternoon, the man was found unharmed at his home in Dallas, police wrote in a social media post.
