4-year-old boy in critical condition after pool accident
A 4-year-old boy was in critical condition Saturday night after being found floating in a backyard pool.
Emergency personnel responded to a call for a possible drowning at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 8300 block of Johns Way.
Police said 4-, 5- and 7-year-old children were in the back yard of the house while the mother was inside.
“The children were told to not get into the pool,” police spokesman Keith Bauman said. “The mom looked out later on and the 4-year-old was floating in the pool.”
Emergency responders arrived at the home within minutes and performed CPR on the child before taking him to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, police said.
The investigation was ongoing, but Bauman said it appeared to be a tragic accident.
“It’s a reminder to anybody that if they have children in a pool that the children should not be in a pool area without being watched over by the parents,” he said. “It doesn’t take long for a tragedy to occur.”
Police said the back yard is enclosed but there is no fence around the pool.
