Grapevine makes plans to help youth sports after flooding
The city recently approved plans to serve youth sports that have been impacted by this year’s flooding.
Due to the rains that raised Lake Grapevine’s levels to an all-time high, all lighted soccer fields in Grapevine will not be accessible this fall.
At the Aug. 4 City Council meeting, in an effort to aid youth sports programs, the council moved to expedite the purchase and installation of equipment that will help this fall and spring.
Field lights and a restroom will be installed at the turf field at The REC of Grapevine — the city’s multi-generational recreation center — at 1175 Municipal Way.
In addition, a new electronic scoreboard will be erected at Bear Creek Park. This will allow some baseball and softball games that would normally occur at Oak Grove to be played at Bear Creek.
Funding for the project will come from the Community Quality of Life Capital Projects fund in the amount of approximately $270,000.
