Hurst United helping train new soccer coaches

Coaching youth sports can be a rewarding experience. There is, however, a lot to learn.

The Hurst United Soccer Association is working with the associations in Colleyville, Bedford, Birdville and Grapevine-Southlake to help young coaches and would-be coaches within these organizations. In fact, if you’ve never attended a coaches clinic, this is the one for you, said HUSA chief operations officer Wendy Powell.

The classroom part of the clinic will be held at the Compass Center, 2600 Hall-Johnson Road in Colleyville. The field part of the clinic will be directly across the street.

In all, the clinic will run from 10:30 a.m. to around 1 p.m. for the indoor portion, followed by lunch and around three and a half hours outside.

“It provides instruction on teaching proper soccer techniques and offers suggestions on how to prepare for practices,” Powell said. “It is intended for first-time or newer coaches.”

Interested coaches can contact leadership of their respective organizations for registration information.
