Burleson residents will have a chance to weigh in on whether the city should go forward with allowing zoning that could bring liquor stores to the city.

A public hearing is scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday at the Burleson City Hall, 141 W. Renfro Street. It will take place during a joint session of the city council and planning and zoning commission.

The purpose of the meeting “primarily involves updating the city’s zoning code to outline where liquor/package stores could potentially operate, along with the stipulations and requirements governing their establishment,” according to a notice on the city’s website.

Liquor stores won’t be allowed to operate in Burleson unless voters approve them in a local option election, according to the city.

Burleson allows beer and wine sales in grocery and convenience stores and mixed beverages in restaurants.
