Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage comes up short against Frisco
The Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage varsity hockey team lost to Frisco on Friday night by a score of 5-1 at the Frisco Arena to move to 1-7 on the summer season with two overtime wins.
The game was close early on, as the varsity team got down 1-0 to start things off, but rebounded with a goal from Matthew Phillips early in the second period to tie the game at one.
Brad Branscum picked up the assist on Phillips’ goal.
The game remained tied until late in the second period when Frisco took the lead and never looked back.
Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage was out shot in the game 32-17 and had six penalties to Frisco’s five.
Carroll well represented in NISCA National Rankings
The National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) recently released its boys and girls high school swim/dive national rankings for the 2014-2015 school year .
According to a news release,“these annual national high school swim/dive team rankings are based on both quality and depth and are compiled, objectively, using the NISCA Power-Point calculation tables, to evaluate the point values for each team’s best dual meet line-up.”
Combining NISCA Power-Points for both Carroll boys and girls, the Dragons swim and dive program finished as the sixth ranked high school swim/dive program in the United States.
The Carroll boys team finished first in the national rankings of all public high school swim/dive teams.
“We are excited about our projections for this coming season and hope to improve on our accomplishments of 2014-2015 season in both boys and girls swimming & diving, and continue to move forward in these NISCA National Rankings” coach Kevin Murphy said in a news release.
Two CHHS golfers place at the FWJGA
The Colleyville Heritage golf program recently had two of its golfers place at the Fort Worth Junior Golf Association Tournament played in Fort Worth.
With more than 400 competitors at the the tournament, senior Mark Miller placed second in his flight with a score of 80, and sophomore Cade Deborah also finishing second in his group, shooting 89 in the second round of the competition.
According to a news release,“the tournament took place over four days on public courses, as well as private courses such as Colonial, Mira Vista, Diamond Oaks and Walnut Creek. The first two days were stroke play and the remaining days were match play.”
