Residents at the North Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing were evacuated early Friday morning after a fire started in the building in the 7800 block of Virgil Anthony Road.

Assistant fire chief Randy Barkley said seven residents were transported to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries..

The cause of the fire and where it started are under investigation, he said.

“We are very blessed that there are no serious injuries,” he said.

According to a Watauga Fire Department Facebook post, 55 people were treated for smoke inhalation.

Barkley said a call about the fire came in shortly after 6 a.m. Friday morning.

North Richland Hills, Roanoke, Keller and Haltom City fire departments also responded to the three-alarm blaze.

Barkley said the fire was extinguished and residents were able to return to the nursing facility.
