Grapevine-Colleyville schools name interim superintendent as search begins for new leader
Brad Schnautz, an administrator in Grapevine-Colleyville since 2017, will lead the growing school district as interim superintendent.
On Monday, the school board voted unanimously to name Schnautz as interim superintendent. He follows Robin Ryan, who recently announced his retirement.
As a deputy superintendent, Schnautz oversees the pre-kindergarten through 12th grade instructional, athletics and fine arts programs. He will take over as interim superintendent on Jan. 6.
“I’m honored to be selected to serve in this role for the students, staff, and families of GCISD,” Schnautz said in a statement.
Schnautz began his career in education in 2002 as a math teacher and coach in the Bryan school district. He also served as a teacher and coach in the Conroe and Magnolia districts before he became a campus administrator in 2008. He He served as a high school assistant principal, junior high school principal and high school principal in the Magnolia school district. In 2015, Schnautz was selected as superintendent for the Lexington school district, and held that position until he came to Grapevine-Colleyville.
The school board is hiring a search firm and will gather input from the community. Board members said they will provide updates on the search during meetings.
