Grapevine offers basketball camp

The Grapevine Runni’ Mustangs basketball camp will be held from July 13-16 at Grapevine High School for students ages 5-15 years.

According to a news release, “the primary purpose of the camp is to provide campers an opportunity to learn and improve their basketball skills. Special emphasis will be placed on fundamentals.”

Special features will include individual instruction, all campers receiving a T-shirt and basketball, and awards given for outstanding play.

The camp will take place at Grapevine High School from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and is for incoming first-ninth grade students.

Registration costs $125, and walk-ups are welcome.

Concessions will be available at the camps.

Faith names several players to all district team

The Grapevine Faith Christian baseball team had several players named to the TAPPS 1-4A all-district squad this season.

Mason McDonald and Noah Postema were both selected to the first team, while teammate Riley Severide earned second-team honors.

Ethan Johnson and Noah Williams both earned honorable mention selections for the Lions.

Covenant places six on all-district squad

The Colleyville Covenant Christian baseball team had six players selected to this year’s TAPPS 1-4A all-district team this season.

Pitcher/shortstop Cole Jorge was named to the first team all-district squad, while outfielder Joshua Turner earned second-team honors.

Pitcher/outfielder Grant Collins and pitcher/third baseman Alex Griggs were also named to the second team, while infielder Hunter Haws and pitcher/catcher Michael Roach were selected as honorable mentions on the the district team.

Second DYF Golf Tournament and Live Auction scheduled for August

The Second Annual Dragon Youth Football golf tournament and live auction is set to take place on Aug. 31 at Timarron Country Club in Southlake.

The tournament will conclude with “lunch and a live auction you won’t want to miss.”

According to the organization’s web site, www.dragonyouthfootball.net, the organization is “also graciously accepting donated items for the tournament silent auction, as well as various levels of tournament sponsorship! All funds raised from your generous donations and contributions will be applied toward much needed renovations to Old Dragon Stadium, as well as new, innovative training equipment.”

Registration is limited to 100 golfers or 25 foursomes.
