A man is in critical condition after he went off the roadway on Texas 10, near Precinct Line Road in Hurst, “splitting the truck in half,” according to KTVT-TV (CBS 11).

A spokesperson for Hurst police told the Star-Telegram the closest accident the department had any record of was a major accident in the 600 block of West Hurst Boulevard, in that same area.

Police said the driver, the only occupant, was awake and responsive when officers arrived at the scene, but that they did not have any additional information to share.

KTVT-TV reported police told them the truck lost control on Texas 10 around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday and went off the highway near a creek, splitting the truck in half when it landed. Firefighters had to extract the driver from the vehicle, KTVT-TV reported.

KTVT-TV reported the man was taken to hospital in critical condition but was expected to survive.

Police said they believe the truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident.
