Motley earns first-team all-state honor

Southlake Carroll catcher Nic Motley was selected to the All-State 6A baseball team this season.

The Dragons player hit .444 on the season with six home runs and 35 RBI en route to a a trip to the regional semifinals. The Dragons came within two rounds of playing in the state championship but was defeated by Arlington Martin.

Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage comes up short

The Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage varsity hockey team came up short in a bid for its second straight victory last Thursday night, losing to McKinney by a score of 2-0.

Both teams had 27 shots on goal in the contest, and the varsity team out-shot McKinney 12-8 in the third period.

Caleb Perry stopped 25 of 27 shots on goal in the contest for Grapevine/Colleyville Heritage.

The varsity team is off this Thursday, but will take on Flower Mound/Marcus at 6:30 p.m. on July 9 at the Farmer's Branch Gainey Arena.

Registration for Colleyville Soccer Association open

Regular registration for the Colleyville Soccer Association is open.

According to the organization's web site, colleyville.gotsport.com/clubsite, teams form and start practice in mid-August for league play Aug. 29 through Nov. 8. Game schedules will be posted a week prior to the start of the season. Most games will be played on Saturdays, and teams are guaranteed to play at least eight games of the 10-game season. There will be no games on Labor Day weekend.

GSSA Raffle set for July 1

The Grapevine-Southlake Soccer Association will be holding its annual raffle benefiting its scholarship fund on Wednesday.

According to the organization's web site, www.gssasoccer.org, “each year, GSSA holds a raffle benefitting the scholarship fund, to ensure that we are able to continue these awards for many years to come. Tickets are available at the GSSA ofiice in person, or by phone, for $2 each, 6 for $10 and 13 for $20.

To call in a raffle ticket order, e-mail info@gssasoccer.org with the subject “Raffle Order,” and the GSSA will call back and take orders over the phone.

Phone orders can accept MasterCard or Visa.

In addition to the raffle, the GSSA will be starting a men's 7-on-7 soccer league this fall.

Second DYF Golf Tournament and Live Auction scheduled for August

The Second Annual Dragon Youth Football golf tournament and live auction is set to take place Aug. 31 at Timarron Country Club in Southlake.

The tournament will conclude with “lunch and a live auction you won’t want to miss.”

According to the organization's web site, dragonyouthfootbll.net, “we are also graciously accepting donated items for the tournament silent auction, as well as various levels of tournament sponsorship! All funds raised from your generous donations and contributions will be applied toward much needed renovations to Old Dragon Stadium, as well as new, innovative training equipment.”

Registration is limited to 100 golfers and/or 25 foursomes.
