Planning to drive near DFW Airport this weekend? Watch for this road closure

North Texans planning to drive on freeways north of DFW Airport may experience delays because of road work this weekend.

A stretch of Bass Pro Drive in Grapevine — including a bridge over Texas 121 near Grapevine Mills Mall — is scheduled to be closed from 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday. The closure includes about a half-mile of Bass Pro Drive from Texas 26 in Grapevine to Enchanted Way near the Coppell city limits.

The closure is part of a $371 million makeover of the Interstate 635-Texas 121 interchange. Freeways in that area are among the busiest in the Metroplex, and are commonly used by motorists traveling from Tarrant County to north Dallas.

Officials with the contractor building the project, NorthGate Constructors, say that when the weekend work is completed Bass Pro Drive will be in its final configuration from Texas 26 to Texas 121, with three lanes in each direction.

Detours will be in place for Bass Pro Drive traffic.

Additional closures in the area may also be required, NorthGate Constructors officials say.

Before heading into the area, drivers are encouraged to visit dfwconnector.com for up-to-the-minute details, or call the project hotline at 877-411-4212.
