Driver killed when her car crashed into back of 18-wheeler near Fort Worth

A driver was killed early Monday in Haltom City when her car slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler, Haltom City police said.

No other injuries were reported in the fatal crash, which occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. at Northeast Loop 820 and Beach Street in Haltom City.

The name of the motorist has not been released pending notification of relatives. She will be identified by officials with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Haltom City police determined the driver, who was in a 2019 Dodge Challenger, was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on a service road.

The 18-wheeler also was traveling eastbound on the service road when the car struck the back of the truck and flipped over, police said.

The driver of the car, a 31-year-old Hispanic woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was found in the car wearing a seat belt, Haltom City police said.
