Bedford city manager, city council agree to part ways ‘effective immediately’
Bedford’s City Manager Brian Bosshardt is out of a job after he and the council agreed to part ways.
Mayor Michael Boyter read a one-sentence statement after the executive session which said, “The City of Bedford and Brian Bosshardt have mutually agreed that he will no longer be serving in a City Manager role effective immediately.”
Boyter said after the executive session the council voted 5-2 to accept the agreement. Roger Fisher and Rusty Sartor voted against it.
Boyter said that Bosshardt was not fired, but that it was a “mutual agreement that he would no longer serve as city manager.”
The city council will meet in executive session at 6 p.m. Monday to discuss next steps.
There is no word yet on who will replace Bosshardt or how Bedford will conduct a search for a new city manager.
Bosshardt’s contract was due to end in April.
Before coming to Bedford in 2017, Bosshardt was the deputy county manager in Los Alamos County, N.M.
Bosshardt came to Los Alamos County in 2010 where he oversaw public works, community development and human resources. Before coming to New Mexico, he spent 10 years in Chandler, Ariz., where he helped rebuild and redevelop neighborhoods.
Bosshardt grew up in the Minneapolis area and graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. He received his master’s degree in business administration from Arizona State University.
