Euless police chase ends when suspect slams into TxDOT truck
A robbery suspect who led Euless police on a chase Monday afternoon didn’t make it too far after he wrecked into the back of a TxDOT truck, police reported.
Gerald Lynn Beam, 36, grabbed cash at gunpoint from the register at Quick Foods Store in the 800 block of Wilshire Drive in Euless at 12:45 p.m., according to a Euless police press release.
Euless officers responding to the 911 robbery call were on their way to the store when they spotted Beam and attempted to pull him over, police said. He sped off, leading officers into the Irving city limits.
The chase ended when Beam slammed into the back of a Texas Department of Transportation truck on a service road near Airport Freeway and Loop 12, Euless police Sgt. Todd Murphree wrote in an email.
Beam got out of his vehicle and fled on foot, but was caught after a “brief foot pursuit,” Murphree said.
He was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas with non-life-threatening injuries.
He faces charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault on a public servant and evading arrest. Police did not respond to questions Tuesday about why he faces a charge of aggravated assault on a public servant. — Monica S. Nagy
