Several lanes of Northeast Loop 820 in North Richland Hills will be closed for about six hours Monday afternoon as officials clean a fertilizer spill on the highway.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred about 11:30 a.m. on westbound Northeast Loop 820 near Rufe Snow Drive, North Richland Hills police said.

The spill occurred after a truck driver hauling fertilizer slammed on his brakes when another vehicle cut in front of him, officials said.

When the driver braked, fertilizer spilled out of his truck, North Richland Hills police said.

Police are anticipating major backups during rush hour traffic and officers are asking motorists to seek alternate routes.
