Construction is starting soon on Keller’s first hotel which is in the heart of the city’s Town Center, the city announced Tuesday.

The $18.5 million Keller Town Center Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton will be built on 3.1 acres at the corner of Bear Creek Parkway and Rufe Snow Drive.

“Keller has been working to attract significant commercial growth inside the city limits including a quality hotel for many years,” Mayor Pat McGrail said in a news release announcing the groundbreaking. “With its location inside Keller Town Center and the close proximity to other venues, this hotel is the perfect addition to our city at just the right time.”

The hotel will be within walking distance of attractions including restaurants, trails and lakes. It is also about a mile from the new Bowden Wedding and Events Center and near the Westlake Corporate campus.

The 69,000 square-foot hotel is scheduled to open in early 2020 and will feature 110 rooms on three levels with a fitness center and meeting room.

The city is providing $1.26 million in incentives. They include the waiving of construction permit fees, a grant reimbursing city impact fees, reimbursement of a portion of property taxes for five years (valued at $293,660) and reimbursement of up to $180,000 annually in hotel occupancy taxes for seven years.
