Jennifer Avery fought back tears Monday morning as she talked about her 16-year-old daughter.

It’s been almost five days since Avery last talked to her.

Makinzy Sparks went missing early Thursday from her Hurst home near Campus Drive and Harwood Street. Avery last talked to her daughter late Wednesday.

“She told me she was going to take her makeup off and was going to bed,” Avery said Monday in a telephone interview.. “No one has heard from her.”

Avery believes her daughter went missing sometime between midnight Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday and does not have her medications.

“She’s borderline suffering from personality disorders,” Avery said. “She has to have her medications.”

Avery, who lives in Hurst, said her daughter might be with a 33-year-old man who befriended her in June after the two met online. He was later charged in the case.

Avery said Colleyville and Hurst police have not been able to find the man in the past few days.

“She could be with him, but we are not sure,” Avery said.

Another one of Avery’s fears is that her daughter left with someone else and is now part of a sex trafficking ring somewhere in Texas.

“She told a friend that she could make it to Austin,” Avery said. “So we’ve put the word out there, too.”

Family members and friends have posted fliers throughout Northeast Tarrant County in hope that someone has seen Sparks and will call police.

Family members also have issued alerts on social media for help in finding Sparks.

“We are investigating every lead,” said Hurst police Sgt. Lonnie Brazzel in a Monday telephone interview.

She is about 5-foot-2, weighs about 145 pounds with dark brown hair and green/hazel eyes. She has piercings in her nose and has tattoos of a cross on her middle finger and of an anchor on her thumb under her knuckle. The tattoos were made at home.

Her family also has reported her disappearance to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Anyone with information should call Hurst police at 817-788-7146.
