One man was killed and three others were injured Monday morning in a fiery multi-vehicle crash on Northeast Loop 820, authorities said.

The victim was identified as Humberto Morales, 59, of Fort Worth, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website. A ruling on his death is pending an autopsy.

One person who was injured was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth and two others were treated at the scene.

The crash was reported about 5 a.m. in the westbound lane of Northeast Loop 820 near Beach Street.

Witnesses reported at least four vehicles involved in the crash with one of them, a black Ford Mustang, engulfed in flames.

“Responding officers observed one vehicle fully engulfed in flames and the driver had been pulled from the vehicle by citizens that stopped to help,” said Det. Matt Spillane in a Monday email. “Three other vehicles were involved with heavy damage.”

Firefighters from Haltom City and Fort Worth extinguished the fire on the vehicle.

The driver pulled out of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The other vehicles involved were a red Nissan Murano, a gray Toyota Corolla and another black Ford Mustang.

The westbound lane of the highway was closed Monday morning about four hours as police investigated the fatal crash.

Investigators were still trying determine what caused the fatal accident.
