Keep Grapevine Beautiful hosted its annual EPIC Earth Day Experience on Saturday at the Botanical Gardens at Heritage Park.

The day featured vendor booths with earth-friendly goods and services, an alternative transportation demonstration with EV models and bicycles, a Recycle Rally sponsored by Verizon, a Kids’ Zone with a bounce house, face painters and crafts.

The event offered the opportunity to play, recycle and network with local businesses and community organizations.

Guests participated in the following:

▪ A Recycle Rally where guests brought e-waste such as computers, mobile phones, laptops and other items for proper recycling.

▪ A Vendor Expo where attendees learned how local businesses are adopting EPIC practices 365 days a year.

▪ A Kid’s Zone that offered a fun and creative experience to learn about creating and living in an EPIC community. The event also offered ways to learn more about how the city adheres to the slogan “Keep Grapevine Beautiful.”

▪ The Alternative Transportation Demonstration where guests viewed electric vehicles and learned more about sustainable transportation.

The primary focus of the EPIC Earth Day experience is to engage the community to reduce water and energy usage; preserve and reclaim natural space; influence purchasing choices based on environmental impact; and cultivate a sustainable earth and air quality

“The purpose of the event is to promote environmental awareness and educational resources that engage our community in creating a more eco-friendly practice in all facets of our lives,” said Mendie Schmidt, executive director of Keep Grapevine Beautiful.

Keep Grapevine Beautiful is organized to preserve and enhance the local natural environment by strengthening citizen’s levels of commitment through educational programs and engaging volunteer-based projects.
