Plans for Southlake Kroger end

Some residents said they are pleased after developers have withdrawn a plan to bring 26-acres of retail near Dove Road.

Cencor Realty Services has withdrawn a proposed plan for Southlake Town & Country at 500 W. Texas 114 after a purchase contract between Cencor and the property owner expired without any approvals from the city.

“We are extremely thankful to all of the Southlake citizens that supported us and made their opinion heard,” resident Doug Harsy said via email.

The plan to bring a 26-acre shopping development, including six commercial retail buildings and a 103,000-square-foot Kroger, was vocally opposed by residents near the area where it would have been built.

Numerous people filed into the Planning and Zoning and Council meetings to oppose the development that they said would increase traffic and clash with the needs of a residential area near Dove Road and Kirkwood Boulevard, just north of the highway.

“Kroger and Cencor remain interested in development options in the City of Southlake,” Cencor Executive Vice President David Palmersaid via email.
