DPS seizes $750,000 in pot, hashish from North Richland Hills man

A North Richland Hills man was arrested and about 120 pounds of marijuana and hashish were seized near Amarillo by the Texas Department of Public Safety, a trooper said Wednesday.

DPS officials identified the suspect as Robert Karl Brzescinski, 55, of North Richland Hills, who could not be reached for comment Wednesday.

A trooper pulled over a 2014 Chevrolet Suburban for a traffic violation at 11:24 a.m. Monday on Interstate 40. Inside were five duffel bags containing 96 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana — about 113 pounds, valued at $690,000 — and a vacuum-sealed bag of hashish — about 6 pounds, valued at $60,000, DPS officials say.

Troopers believe the drugs were being taken from California to North Richland Hills.

Brzescinski faces charges of possession and delivery of marijuana over 50 pounds but less than 2,000 pounds, and possession of a controlled substance over 400 grams.

He was booked into the Potter County Jail in Amarillo and was released Tuesday after posting $75,000 bail.
