Colleyville’s two-day celebration of barbecue for a good cause returns this weekend.

The City will hosts its Old Tyme BBQ at Colleyville Center this Friday and Saturday with food, drinks and a sanctioned barbecue cook-off, all to benefit Special Olympics Texas.

Festivities begin Friday from 6-11 p.m. with a free fish fry made possible by Hall’s Wine & Spirits. There will also be a concert by the Texas Cartel, which begins at 7:30 p.m. A portion of Riverwalk Drive turns into a block party as the street is shut down for the V.I.P area where people can pay $25 to for in complimentary barbecue and beverages.

Saturday events begin at 11 a.m. as the Texas barbecue competition begins. Attendees can enjoy barbecue plates for $7. At 1 p.m. the annual Kid-Q contest begins and contestants 8-14 years of age will prepare their best chicken entree. Those interested can pay $5 per child.
