Carroll boys, girls do well at district track and field meet

The Carroll track and field program had a phenomenal showing at the district meet last week in Coppell, winning a district championship on the boys side and finishing second overall on the girls side as a team.

Boys coach Tony Holmes said that he was pleased with his team's effort at the meet and said his athletes definitely met expectations for the competition.

“I thought we did pretty good,” Holmes said. “It was a good day. Going in, we had our sights set on winning the district meet. All of the kids went in prepared and ran well and that was exactly what we did.”

The boys team scored 182 points at the meet, and Holmes said the goals for the area round are to keep the momentum rolling.

“The objectives for area is to make the next round,” Holmes said. “My goal is for us to always finish in the top two. We're trying to do that so that we can move on to the regional meet next weekend in Arlington.”

On the girls side, the Lady Dragons finished with a total of 137 points to finish in second place overall at the meet and will also send several athletes onto the area meet.

The area meet will take place on April 23 in Cedar Hill.
