A Keller warehouse that supplies Kroger stores in Dallas-Fort Worth will be laying off about 690 workers next week, The Dallas Morning News reported.

Kroger owns the facility at 5801 Kroger Drive, but a third-party contractor, SouthStar LLC, employs the warehouse workers.

Kroger terminated its contract with SouthStar, according to a letter SouthStar sent to the Texas Employment Commission, the News reported.

Kroger spokeswoman April Martin Nickels said the grocery chain has hired Penske Logistics to manage the warehouse. She deferred employment questions to Penske.

Penske "intends to interview and recruit from the existing workforce as well as outside applicants," a spokesman told the News.
