The L.D. Bell Lady Blue Raiders completed their season sweep against rival Trinity last Friday, defeating the Lady Trojans 11-1. Audrey Bates had a pair of doubles for the Lady Raiders, and Alicia Marion added one of her own. Shelbie Hughes doubled for Trinity.
The victory extended the Lady Raiders' winning streak to three entering this week's games and dating back to its March 30 loss to first-place Southlake Carroll. The streak also includes a 6-2 victory against Richland last Tuesday.
Bell enters its final three games with a 5-3 record and in third place in District 7-6A, one game ahead of Coppell and one behind Haltom.
Bell will have to keep sharp, though, as it was scheduled to visit Colleyville Heritage (3-4) on Tuesday and has to host Haltom at 7:15 p.m. Friday before the the rematch against Carroll.
Trinity is running out of chances to get a win in the district. The struggling Lady Trojans face Carroll, Coppell and Richland for their next three games in district competition.
The Trinity baseball team suffered its first loss of the District 7-6A season last Tuesday at the hands of Southlake Carroll, which pulled out the 7-2 victory on its home diamond.
Trinity immediately avenged the loss, however, in a 2-1 home victory last Friday in the second game of the series. Riley King and Hudson Sanchez each doubled for the Trojans in the win.
The Trojans now enter the second-to-last week of the regular baseball season. The season series against Coppell is set to begin Tuesday at Trinity before the Trojans visit Coppell at 7 p.m. Friday. The final week of the season will be the Richland series. However, the team will also play one last non-district game, May 2 hosting Trophy Club Nelson, before the postseason starts.
Bell managed its first victory in district last Tuesday, 3-2 hosting Colleyville Heritage. Heritage took the second game last Friday, 6-3.
This week, Bell has its series against Haltom. The Blue Raiders host Haltom at 7 p.m. Friday.
