Artwork at Gatehouse
Carroll senior Casey Lapham’s art hangs on the walls at The Gatehouse in Grapevine. Lapham worked with the organization to have 24 works of art hanging on the walls of spaces for families looking to get back on their feet. Lapham’s artwork plays off the organization’s logo of a sunflower. The Gatehouse is a non-profit community that houses women and their children in crisis.

Battling erosion
Glenhope fourth-graders were spread out across Katie’s Woods in Grapevine, investigating the land and collecting soil samples. Students were picked up rocks, examined trees, and took notes on the lake’s water level. Others were observed the amount of erosion and weathering that had occurred on the land around the lake.
Teacher Christina Hayes got the idea for a Project Based Learning (PBL) assignment about weathering and erosion after a luxury home fell into Lake Whitney in 2014. The home was on a cliff that collapsed due to land erosion over a significant amount of time. Hayes shared articles with her class about Lake Whitney.
