A motorcyclist killed in a crash on Denton Highway has been identified as Jack Ellerd of Haltom City, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Tuesday.

Ellerd was pronounced dead at the scene Monday afternoon, the website states. Initially, police reported the motorcyclist was 57-years-old, but officials at the medical examiner’s office listed his age at 64.

Officers responded to a major accident call shortly after 2 p.m. Monday in the 5200 block of Denton Highway.

A 50-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on a Loop 820 service road through the Denton Highway intersection, police said.

Ellerd who was on a Harley Davidson was traveling southbound on Denton Highway through the intersection when his vehicle collided with the Camry, police said.

The motorcyclist who was not wearing a helmet was thrown from his vehicle and landed on the highway, police said.

A witness told police the motorcyclist ran a red traffic light in the intersection and crashed into the Camry.
